I study how popular discourses about mathematical science intersect with larger cultural trends, including, but not limited to: 1970s New Age books about quantum physics; the 1980s chaos theory boom; news coverage of Latina physicists; détente-era SETI research; roboticist lingo and literary tastes; topology in French psychoanalysis; and AI engineers who aspire to be immortal.
