COMMRC Connect Interns Run Successful Pitt Day of Giving Campaign

This year, the Communication Department, with the help of the COMMRC Connect interns, ran a Pitt Day of Giving campaign focused on raising funds that will directly support future interns, successfully raising $2,520 thanks to the support of 22 donors.

Pitt Day of Giving is an annual university-wide fundraising event in which Pitt affiliated groups are assisted in reaching out to alumni and other donors to raise funds that can be used to directly support future initiatives of their organization.

The COMMRC Connect internship program is a semester-long internship offered to students in the communications department that aims to bridge the gap between students, faculty, and the wider university community. Interns are given the opportunity to work together on projects centered around the department's external communications. From writing the monthly newsletter, to organizing alumni networking events, interns are given the chance to put concepts they learn in their courses to real world practice.

Current interns directed, produced, and starred in a short video highlighting the initiatives of the program, helping potential donors get a look into what day to day life as a COMMRC Connect student is like.

All money raised will be used to purchase camera equipment and management software that will aid future COMMRC Connect interns in the creation of impactful, informative, and creative projects that help build a stronger sense of community within the department.
